09:00 wake up
I really lived far away from the Numazu station and since another interesting sight was on my way to the station I decided to give it a visit.
11:45 arrival at VIEW-O Watergate. This 30m tall Watergate is one of Japan’s biggest Watergate and apperently functions to protect the area from Tsunamis (source:info scripture at the gate). With only 100 yen you can get to the observatory and would probably get a good view on Mt Fuji. Unlucky for me my day was a bit cloudy.
On my way to the station I also accidentally found an old Tokaido trail milestone.
And some kind of anime event seems to go on, even my hostel roommate mentioned something like that.
Edit: OK seems like Numazu features in an anime called love live and a lot of people want to see the original scenery (source).
14:40 arrival at Kamara Station. I went by train from Numazu and skipped the Tokaido stations Hara and Yoshiwara.
From here on I walked through Yui and found some old friends.
In comparison to Kokunodate I have a more realistic feeling that these houses around here are really old instead of being maintained to look old.
Through my keen observational skills I discovered that to get from Yui to the next Tokaido station Okitsu you have to go through the Satto pass.
16:30 Again on a clear day it would provide a superb view on Mt Fuji and is quite an enjoyable hike along the coast and street as well.
17:25 I actually wanted to walk to Shimizu – my final tokaido station for today – but on my way one of my blisters on my pinky toe broke causing pain with every step which is why I took a shortcut by train.
As today the walk to the Satto pass was just right with a nice view, some effort and a fresh breeze. Bonus points would have been given if the clouds weren’t so cloudy.
